Contains the following types of materials: photographs, photo albums, post cards, postcard albums. Covers the following wars: World War I (WWI), World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military units and organizations: 23rd Infantry Regiment; 2nd Infantry Division; U.S. Marine Corps (USMC); Younng Men Christian Association (YMCA). General description of the collection: The Gordon R. Young photograph collection is sparce concerning such an active and distinguished career. There are, however, thousands (more than 2000) postcards from around the world. Photos of United States Military Academy (USMA) cadets on Cultos Hill, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 1913 and two photo albums of activities of officers and YMCA girls in occupied Germany following WWI cover the early years. There are numerous photos of his service in the Panama Canal Zone, one entire album devoted to a social event and dance. There are several photos covering the construction of Great Bridge Locks and numerous photos of family activities to include equitation and polo.

West Point, N.Y., was originally utilized as a strategic defense location during the American Revolution. West Point is geographically located on a 100 ft. plateau overlooking the Hudson River.
